I have been thinking for a while I need to work on my own unique design work, I love playing with lines and patterns and was really pleased with the last 2 circular works I completed, just entered today into a competition.

These 3 works in progress, are all NZ Botanicals. The first is Pohutakawa Focus(NZ Christmas Tree), The second one is Kahikatea Forest, the last is Nikau stand(NZs only palm tree) . Enjoy

This is my most requested image. There will be a charge for the use of this artwork image. It is frequently requested including for web articles, books, TV production amongst others.

It has stunned many viewers with it’s realistic portrayal of Migraine Aura of this typical type. I may do some further art related to the aura I experienced, including some fractal images that remind me of the jagged, disjointed feeling migraine evokes.

THis is "Black Wave", where the waves really did appear black, the sand was not black either... it was after a huge storm, I have not seen it like this either before or since, despite 20 years living at this place... I loved the challenge of the gorgeous shine and reflection too...

Completed using a knife, my favourite painting tool, this was a commissioned painting. I think I am improving! this was my second painting of this scene, with a different crop.

I worked hard to create harmony and rythym with the colour balance.

This painting show my favourite wildflower, a beach daisy with incredibly intense purple petals and bright yellow centre. Accompanied by it's sister version daisy, a bright yellow with yellow centre.

Here is Graeme with a very tall Rimu (NZ Red Pine), in a forest of beautiful Totara and Ponga(tree Fern)in the breathtaking central plateau mountain region. This was part of a 2 hour walk - lovely...

Here is the beautiful Silica Rapids walk, in the Ruapehu area, and our unique alpine flora with snow! I also have some NZ Bush pics with snow scattered about, which I have never seen before, usually NZ Bush is just wet!
I love NZ with snow because there is still so much colour - pinks ,greens, yellows.
Connection here sometimes poor hence the gap in posting.
I am loveing the alpine environment in winter. We have a nice warm lodge to live in, so we don't mind the cold. I actually like wrapping up in scarf and woollies!!
Time for art after this week, we have been very busy over the holidays..

Craggy Range

here is the mighty Tuki Tuki River, with the awesome Craggy Range. The sea in the very top background is the Pacific ocean(Hawke's Bay) Right in front of me here was a sheer drop, very far down!!!!! :o

We have just left this area and are on our way in a week to the Alpine Plateau, where Mt Ruapehu is. Soon I will be posting some wonderful pics of this mountain. Thanks to the Mitchells for their hospitality.....

I have had issues signing in over the last month - now resolved I think, so look forward to more regular psots again!!!

View from our caravan, we have had the most amazing sunsets and sunrises over April/May. The colours were richer than here, the most intenese orange-reds

A little painting for a friend, called 4 Koru for Lisa - Koru are the Maori name the fronds of baby fern leaves - refers also to the shape, a shape I love to use in my abstract art.

This is a pure coloured pencil artwork of mine created using only 3 pencils, green red and white. It belongs to my daughter. Most people do not realise it is only 2 colours till I point it out. I must try this again, it was fun and nice and challenging, I always enjoy an art challenge...most motivating...

An artist exchange, this is an acrylic painting destined for a NZ Weaving artist who works in the medium of NZ Flax. These are the flax flowers portrayed here against the backdrop of the leaves. Tui (native bird) love these flowers for their nectar.

This Coloured Pencil artwork, (8 x 10 inches) sold on the opening night of the Exhibition at the NZ Academy of Fine Arts!
Be encouraged, even in this economic climate, there are still buyers out there....
I am currently working on a water lily with dragon fly – I intend to add some nice attractive critters to my floral art – butterflies, dragon flies, birds, pretty beetles, nothing scary! Though I COULD do a NZ Native NZ flower and a weta !!!!! J I love wetas, but most pple don’t!!
Watching the feijoas (a type of guava) ripening here on the orchard....YUM, can’t wait to eat them....

Isn't this cool? Looking back on the Kauri Point Pier, Bay of Plenty, NZ. I might paint it...
Solo exhibition on right now at Te Horo, Horowhenua, near Wellington. Will continue on through Labour weekend, this weekend.
Sunny today, shopping then finish off a couple little canvasses of Kowhai flowers...fun, becuase they are a really different shape, and I think I may finally be able to comfortably draw as a design element.
Having fun at the local art group, just did some fun sctratchboard in Goache and Oil pastel, but prefer acrylic and goache, so will have another play with this....

This wonderful variagated NZ Flax is sold all over the world, I am really enjoying portraying all the lovley colours in it.
