Craggy Range

here is the mighty Tuki Tuki River, with the awesome Craggy Range. The sea in the very top background is the Pacific ocean(Hawke's Bay) Right in front of me here was a sheer drop, very far down!!!!! :o

We have just left this area and are on our way in a week to the Alpine Plateau, where Mt Ruapehu is. Soon I will be posting some wonderful pics of this mountain. Thanks to the Mitchells for their hospitality.....

New Acrylic artwork and fabulous sunrise

A little painting for a friend, called 4 Koru for Lisa - Koru are the Maori name the fronds of baby fern leaves - refers also to the shape, a shape I love to use in my abstract art.

Japanese still life in coloured pencil

This is a pure coloured pencil artwork of mine created using only 3 pencils, green red and white. It belongs to my daughter. Most people do not realise it is only 2 colours till I point it out. I must try this again, it was fun and nice and challenging, I always enjoy an art challenge...most motivating...

NZ Flax Flowers artwork

An artist exchange, this is an acrylic painting destined for a NZ Weaving artist who works in the medium of NZ Flax. These are the flax flowers portrayed here against the backdrop of the leaves. Tui (native bird) love these flowers for their nectar.

We are currently in the beautiful Hawke's Bay region. Here are some wine grapes - possibly Pinot Noir.

Be encouraged, even in this economic climate, there are still buyers out there....
I am currently working on a water lily with dragon fly – I intend to add some nice attractive critters to my floral art – butterflies, dragon flies, birds, pretty beetles, nothing scary! Though I COULD do a NZ Native NZ flower and a weta !!!!! J I love wetas, but most pple don’t!!
Watching the feijoas (a type of guava) ripening here on the orchard....YUM, can’t wait to eat them....

Digital artwork

I am enjoying digital art, very simple, not done with a tablet, but within Programmes such as Powerpoint.
Due to limited connectivity in my current location, There may be gaps in updating my blog, but I will add to it more regularly from now on.

Isn't this cool? Looking back on the Kauri Point Pier, Bay of Plenty, NZ. I might paint it...
Solo exhibition on right now at Te Horo, Horowhenua, near Wellington. Will continue on through Labour weekend, this weekend.
Sunny today, shopping then finish off a couple little canvasses of Kowhai flowers...fun, becuase they are a really different shape, and I think I may finally be able to comfortably draw as a design element.
Having fun at the local art group, just did some fun sctratchboard in Goache and Oil pastel, but prefer acrylic and goache, so will have another play with this....

Coloured Pencil work Pink Flax

Well here is one of my latest coloured pencil works. 4 x 6 inches, using prismacolor pencils on Stonehenge paper.
This wonderful variagated NZ Flax is sold all over the world, I am really enjoying portraying all the lovley colours in it.
